Service Description

When spring arrives in Alaska, this is often the most obvious time you will see problems with the grading around your home; whether in your yard, driveway, or directly around your foundation. When things thaw, or a heavy rain falls, you may discover you have standing water, muddy areas, or possibly even flooding in your basement or crawl space. Many times, these basic drainage problems can be fixed by simply re-grading your property. Soil from construction settles over time, which can result in negative drainage toward your home or sunken areas in your yard or driveway. This is normal, but something that often needs to be corrected to keep the integrity of your property and home. These areas can trap excessive amounts of water that cannot be absorbed into the ground. Grading around your home's foundation or yard can be corrected by adding material to fill holes, creating positive drainage so the water runs away from your home. Depending on the situation, adding a culvert at the end of your driveway may be necessary to re-direct water. There are also times where grading may not work, and installing a french drain or new ditch lines may be necessary to remediate the water problems. We will come look at your property and determine where the water is coming from and where it will need to exit in order to not disturb your home. This will help determine what type of drainage solution will work best for your home and your budget.
